Social Media Meets Yakima Washington!

By Shawn Busse on February 24th, 2010

On Tuesday I had the pleasure of presenting Kinesis’ Social Media BootCamp to over 130 businesses, non-profits, and civic organizations at the Yakima Convention Center. We designed our BootCamp to help folks get a handle on the rapidly evolving Social “landscape”. This was our third event, with previous Camps in Portland and Missouri.

If you’ve never been to the Yakima region (this is “wine country” for the state of Washington) do yourself a favor and see what the community has to offer. Great scenery, fantastic vineyards, and a mix of old and new culture that will entertain even the most skeptical traveler.

What a great crowd! Folks from all sizes of business were in attendance, and there was definitely a diversity of experience and knowledge in using social media.

As a follow-up, I’m posting a PDF of the presentation as well as the compelling video I shared. If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me an email (or better yet, see me on Twitter!)

Thanks again to the sponsors: Yakima Valley Visitors and Convention Bureau (John and Kirsten – you and your team are awesome), Greater Yakima Chamber of Commerce, and New Vision.

Incredible Presentation! I have multiple organizations I represent and they all ask me on a regular basis “How can we reach (effectively) more people and spend less money?”. I knew Social Media was the answer, but until Shawn’s “Bootcamp” I wasn’t sure exactly what to include in a Social Media strategy or how to implement it. Thank you Shawn for the most timely and relevant workshop I’ve ever attended!
