Delap Logo a Big Winner!

by Shawn on June 10th, 2009

We’re pleased to announce the most recent success of one of our longstanding Portland clients, Delap. Last week, the Association of Accounting Marketing (AAM) selected the Delap logo as the winner of the “Best Logo Design” category. Each year the AAM recognizes accounting firms and marketers for their outstanding contributions to the profession.

A panel of judges, including professionals in advertising, consulting, professional services and marketing, judged 228 entries in 20 different categories. This is a big win for the firm and aligns perfectly with their expansion efforts.

Delap Branding Materials

Much of the success of the Delap rebrand had to do with the Kinesis process. We worked with the firm to identify their core values, approach to business, and key messages. This extensive research took into account the industry landscape, the competition, and visual opportunities for the firm. At the end of the process, Delap had an entire set of branding materials that reflected their firm and helped set them apart from competitors.

Very few firms understand design and marketing for professional service providers (accountants, lawyers, architects, consultants, etc). If you’re interested in hearing more about this process, or would like to see a PDF with some great before-and-afters, drop me a line at shawnb{at}kinesisinc.com.

And, last but not least: a big THANK YOU to the marketing team at Delap, the great designers at Kinesis, photography by Polara and Colleen Cahill, and the outstanding printing services at B&B Print Source. Kudos to all!

I love the Delap logo but I took a look at the Association of Accounting Marketing (AAM) website and I am wondering how an organization with such hideous taste was able to choose something so understated and classy.

Hi Victoria – Thanks for your kind words about the Delap logo.

As to the AAM website, I have an ongoing curiosity about the very same thing. There are a number of organizations who have honored our designs with awards, that have…{ahem, how should I put this?}…websites and logos that are less than aesthetically pleasing.

Here’s my best guess as to how these organizations operate: they are run by professionals who – while very good at what they do – are not designers. And each year, the org. selects designers and art directors on a panel as judges. So, while the judges ARE holding everything to high standards, the organization itself has never held itself to any such scrutiny.

Again, I’m just making a guess. What do you think?

    Best, Wendy
