"It has gotten so bad that Indianapolis graphic designers Dave and Holly Combs have erected a website that’s prime objective is to ban comic sans altogether by collecting names on an online petition."

>>> that's ???? <<<

You cannot use that construction as a possessive. Better stick to designing fonts, hey? That's your strength.

A well researched and thoughtful piece, Michelle. Well done. One misstep: Prince Valiant is definitely not set in Comic Sans. It's either hand lettered, like most comics, or set in a superior comic lettering face like those by Comicraft. Professional comic artists will probably tell you that Comic Sans is a very poor excuse for comic lettering. So that leaves the sad font with no appropriate usage, unless the user really can't acquire anything better.
